Born (1977) and raised in Nova Gorica, Slovenia, Europe, Gregor Bajt has a fine art degree at Academy of Fine Arts Venice, Italy. Additional fine art studies at University of Idaho, USA, University of Wales Institute, Cardiff, GB, College for Painting and Drawing Ljubljana, Slovenia. Following his search for self understanding, after forcibly quitting at a young age a track and field promising career in athletics that won him a scholarship from Harvard, he spent several months traveling and meditating in remote European locations with a Buddhist monk venerable Sujiva.☜ Time was fast while changes were swift between moments that lasted forever. Later in his life worked in the film and gaming industry, including experience in Hollywood.☜ Making large amounts of self related questions in these »unique« life experiences provided the basis for his approach to his photography and cinematography. Career working experiences include art directors, editors, sport athletes, film producers and film directors, digital artists, teachers and children.

  • Grassrootly taught in the meaning of life, Bajt entered upon and completed - while exercising his artistic endeavours - a Masters in Teaching at the Rudolf Steiner Waldorf school in Ljubljana, Slovenia, during an eight years working experience in human development and human upbringing.

Bajt's work is a derivative from a point of view that sees human conditions as something that cannot be wholly observed through the historical timeline thus a notion of continuous becoming is surveyed. “It’s a view that absorbs the last testament of Maria Zambrano, a philosopher of the dawn, where she speaks about a privileged time, when the light is not yet ardent, and the serenity is restrained in itself, it all looks like an homage of time.” Corriere della Sera, giornalist Giovanna del Bon in an interview with the artist Gregor Bajt about his documentary Lights of Venice.

Bajt’s photography career began through the process of lengthy solo campaigns to isolated and somehow secluded sites. Perseverance has been a tool for mapping the understanding, whereas spiritual journeys served as mere self-through-time related experiences. By their very essence, though, his photography suggests a deeper visual read to overpass the knowledge of the »peculiar« notion of light, time and self.

Bajt Gregor's working relationships included among others BBA gallery Berlin, Galleria Michela Rizzo in Venice, Gallery Hest Ljubljana, Festivalna galerija Bled, film festivals and screenings in Venice, Cagliari, Mestre, Ljubljana, Maribor, Bled… a collaboration with Fox Universal Studios, USA.
